I am facilitating a parent teacher conference with a child I am working with. Would it be ok if I print this out and gave it to his parents and teachers as an explanation of reinforcements? I really like the succinctness of this article and believe it would be a valuable tool for this meeting.
Thanks!

Great questions to pose as we take this journey. For me, the curse is similar: not shutting it off and an overwhelming sense that I can't possibly know all there is to one's behaviours. The gift however is my objectivity to see things as they are - no judgement, no harsh reactions.

Good question! My three:

1) Maintain neutral game face when in the thick of a verbal outburst or behaviour escalation. Never take it personally!

2) Pair yourself with positive experiences and items the child enjoys. Don't just be the person who lays down the law.

3) Differential reinforcement - learn it, use it, go with it! :)

Wonderful explanation--thank you. I note that you refer to Love and Logic, which has been helpful to me in helping children (and parents) to learn about taking responsibility and problem solving--along with other behavioral aspects.
